Most of us spent about 90 days watching the oil gusher on TV every day.  It was a little less for me because I took a relaxing holiday on my yacht in England.  Of course we all despised seeing those 50,000 barrels a day shooting out of the pipe.  But somehow throughout the process I think that old gusher got under my skin.  She and I seemed to develop a kind of bond. 

Every day when I woke up I knew she would be there working as hard as she could.  She was relentless and bountiful.  She flourished and shared herself generously with the world.  I grew to respect that.  In a way, she gave my life a central focus.  She became all I cared about for 30 or 40 of those 90 days.
