Oakley man marries Golden Tee video game.
CINCINNATI — When Kevin Slaughtman played Golden Tee for the first time at R.P. McMurphy’s bar in 2002, he knew he was hooked, but he never imagined he would end up falling in the love with the coin-operated video game. “I always said I loved that game,” Slaughtman says, “but eventually I realized that what I was saying was literally true—I really love this game.”
Last month, the 31-year-old pharmaceutical sales rep bought the Golden Tee machine from R.P. McMurphy’s for an undisclosed amount. He plans to marry the game this Saturday at a small, informal ceremony at the First Unitarian Church in Avondale.
“We want to send a special thanks to the Unitarian congregation; they’ve been very open to our lifestyle,” Slaughtman says.
When asked why he loves the game enough to actually marry it, Slaughtman blushes. “I guess it’s the little things, you know? Like the weather variations on the virtual golf courses that keep the game fresh every time you play it. And the interactive video commentary and in-game help from the pros! Plus, the trackball...I love the trackball.”
