Church step climbers disappointed by Purple People Bridge ads
MT. ADAMS - People who arrived at the Immaculata Church on Good Friday to make the traditional Easter step climb were greeted with large promotional advertisements for discounted rates to climb the Cincinnati Purple People Bridge. The ads offered a $10 discount on Easter Sunday. Some of the step climbers felt the ads were in poor taste. A spokesperson for the Purple People Bridge said, “The ads were certainly not intended to offend anyone. We merely intended to suggest an alternative climbing activity to people who have already shown an interest in climbing. In no way did we mean to imply the Purple People Bridge should replace the church step climb. We believe these are both vital activities in our community that can continue to coexist. Whenever someone feels like they’ve mastered the church steps we want to remind them about the Purple People Bridge.” One step climber who was not offended by the bridge ads jokingly commented, “That looks like an offer I can’t Passover!”
