Dick Cheney autobiography discusses heart attacks in chapters 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 12
NEW YORK, NY - The new book written by former Vice President Dick Cheney is full of frank discussions on foreign policy, observations about fellow politicians, and tales of his numerous heart attacks. Cheney’s heart attacks are discussed in chapters 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 12. Reportedly, there is so much discussion on heart attacks that Cheney considered naming the book, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco, Washington D.C., New York, Texas, Florida, and Twice in Illinois", referencing all of the cities in which the former Vice President had heart attacks.
The book, “In My Time” recalls many of the key moments of Cheney’s career in politics. These key moments often take a backseat to his heart attack stories, which are plentiful and detailed. “I was talking to the ghost writer about Colin Powell,” said Cheney. “When all of a sudden I remembered a fantastic heart attack I had in my mid-thirties. I could tell he was on the edge of his seat while I was telling the story, so I wanted to make sure the book gave full coverage to every cardiac incident.”
The heart attack discussed in chapter 4 of the book also brings up Cheney’s desire at one point to have multiple heart transplants. He had hoped to be the first living human to have a heart attack using seven separate hearts in a three day period. “Now that would have been a record that would never have been beat,” explains Cheney. “Unfortunately, the old lady talked me out of it. What really sucked is that government health insurance could have paid for the whole thing.”
Cheney’s fondness for his heart attack stories may lead to another writing project. “I’d like to put something out there for the kids,” he said. “Maybe a heart attack pop-up-book. I think they would really like how spooky and fun and exciting they are!”
